IT’S ALL ABOUT SELF CARE THIS APRIL

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

We hope that the Easter weekend was great for you and that in spite of the lockdown in some countries and the stringent curfews in others, that you got to spend it with your family even if it was over Zoom. It may not be what you would have preferred but we are thankful that the option is there.

As we enter into the last month of the first quarter of 2021, we at Veryldesigns are being very intentional about our self-care. And we want to help you with your self-care as well. We are in an era we have not seen before. Covid-19 had disrupted what we have always known. Nothing is the same.

We are in a new normal that just doesn’t look or feel normal. Who would have envisioned lockdowns and curfews and shopping on particular days? What about not being with family? All this has had adverse effects on the world over. But we want you to know that we care about you, not just on the outside through how fantastic you will look in your Veryldesigns prints and you know that you will but also in the inside- emotionally and mentally.

“Caring for your body, mind, and spirit is your greatest and grandest responsibility. It’s about listening to the needs of your soul and then honoring them.”

-- Kristi Ling

Physical Self-Care

Whether we like it or not, our bodies are what makes it possible for us to do the things we do. If we did not look after our bodies, we would not be able to tailor the outfits of Veryldesigns or even have the energy to make sure they are delivered to you on time. We all need to look after our physical health and this can be done by asking ourselves pertinent questions like Are you getting enough sleep? You know yourself- you may have binged on one too many series on Netflix and before you knew it, it was 4am. Ha-ha! Yes, I see you girl! Or it was time to get in your 10 sit-ups a day. Let us be realistic, we are not going to be like Beyonce who does 1000 sit ups. Then again, maybe you are.

Social Self-care

We all know that we are not islands. We need to interact with people and no matter how much an introvert you are, you still need people. However, with Covid-19, this has changed. We can not meet up with our girls for a drink at the pub or go for a late-night pizza run with family just for just. We are now cocooned at home. It is our work and home and social joint jumbled up in one. It can get stifling but we should be thankful for technology. Yes, it is not the same but let’s whip out the phones and call people, have zoom drink-ups online with friend, throw a virtual birthday party. Socialization doesn’t have to end because we can not physically be with them. Let us use what we can for now.

Emotional Self-Care.

We are not going to lie. The truth is it is hard. 2020 was hard. 2021 is still hard. We have gone through a myriad of emotions like anger and sadness that has left us reeling. We are unsure of our footing in this world. Each day is a blessing but also a herald of new things to come which may or may not be good. So how do we deal with all these emotions? We take one step at a time. That is the only way. We run to (here we mean we zoom, call, facetime, WhatsApp) our friends and family and share with them how we are feeling. It is a time to be honest with ourselves and allow to be vulnerable. That is the only way. We can not do this alone so reach out to your person, reach out to a wellness call center. Do not go through all this alone.

Mental Self-care

As a man thinks, so He is~ James Allen.  What are you filling your mind with? What you think about greatly affects your psychological well being so you need to be very intentional. Yes, I know that we have said this before. But we do need to be intentional, very intentional! At Veryldesigns, we have gotten into the habit of reading books on diverse topics which include fashion design like Mastering the Art of Fabric Printing and Design by Laurie Wisbrun so just keep in mind -Coming soon to a place close to you. Ha-ha! Puzzles is also another way that can keep your mind sharp. Play those games. Let loose and put the pieces together and may you never lose even one piece because boy o boy, that is frustrating.

Spiritual Self-care

Are you nurturing your spirit? Please understand that we are not talking about religion but that which enhances your deep understanding of yourself and connection with this world. You can do it anyway you want. It can be going to a church service or meditation or even prayer. Whatever works for us is what you should do so what questions are you asking about your life? What spiritual practices are you engaging in?

We hope that we have taken you through some steps that can help you improve your self-care this April. May a self-care plan for yourself. We plan for our businesses, for our careers, for the trips we hope to take some. Let’s now plan for our self-care because you are that important and more.

Take care of yourself, Verylfam.  Wear a mask and stay safe. Have an Amazing April. See you soon.
